Thanks to the pandemic, RM2020 has gone virtual, and this means the Realm Awards Ceremony (which used to be a banquet full of cosplay and other fun stuff) is open to the public!  When?

Out the Other Side & Much More

Last week I kinda got some crummy news but it was wrapped with lots of silver linings. Lots.

But first…

I’ve survived the plague, and the lockdown, and have managed to crack out 20 chapters on Book 4 of Akiniwazisaga.  The sad part? This may only be 20% of the entire book length.  I’m not sure, but this bad boy’s going to be a whopper.  If you want to keep up with the latest details on what’s going on in writing and life in general, you can check it out on my Discord Channel.  Link above. It’s worth it.

it even gave me a chance to read some Realmie books I purchased last conference.  Here’s some of them I bought:

Speaking of Discord…

The news finally broke this year that Realm Makers 2020 conference has gone virtual, thanks mostly to the State of New Jersey unable to unclench long enough to pull their head’s out and take a breath.  That means RM2020 is now a virtual conference, like all the other conventions and conferences all over the US stretching into next year.  I just… I… Come ON people, you don’t quarantine healthy individuals!  So here’s where the silver linings begin.

In the process of setting up for the virtual RM2020, we were told that it will be using Discord as a big part of it’s operation.  I happened to be right place/right time cheerleading and helping out on a different RM related Discord forum and got the powers that be to understand what was happening and how the system works. Thanks to those fortuitous (yeah, I see God’s hand all over it) I became a moderator to help out with handling the training of a lot of conference goers and then assisting as a mod for the con!  Woot! So that’s kinda fun to be on the inside of that one. A lot of energy has been spent on this setup and onboarding of writers from all over the world, it’s almost been a full time job.

Which leads me to the blessing in disguise of being laid off just as COVID19 shut everything down. So we’ll see how long it takes either to get a call back (ain’t holding my breath) or a new position.  Till then, writing, RM modding and creative endeavors will fill my days, mortared together with job hunting.

What about those other creative endeavors?  Music!  I’ve mentioned for a while I’m doing music, well now I’m posting some stuff on my youtube channel, with more to come as I feel appropriate and have the time.  Unfortunately the last song was too long, so Youtube rejected it.  Will have to try with some others. Here’s one example.

I’m an enthusiastic amature, so take that into account.

And as sort of a bittersweet farewell to the idea of going to Atlantic City this year, here are pictures from last year’s RM to cheer me up, and for you to enjoy too.

Lockdown Social Interaction

As a stone introvert who can literally go an entire week without seeing another human being, I give this a jolly “meh”. I’m fairly battle hardened to isolation.

20160610_204051

For those going through social withdrawal, don’t forget my Discord server. I’m on usually in the evenings chatting about stuff with friends and fans that may have nothing to do with my writing. Just a good social place. For the time being Discord has graciously raised their channel capacity to 50. Ergo, now is the time to check it out.  The link to get there is in the menu bar.

During the day, I am often working on book 4 and music of all things, but I will try to be regularly available at night if people are needing somewhere to go and just hang out.

If I hop on the server, I will be streaming Guild Wars 2.  Probably going to finish the last part of the Icebrood Saga sometime this week.

Hope to see some new faces!

Quick Edit!

Also, here’s a new challenge for you!  I give you the Protect Your TP Pandemic Challenge! The video is hilarious, and Carla does some great information for writers in the field of hand to hand combat. Check her out!

How will you protect your TP?

A very happy discovery

After questioning what has been going on as of late with sales, I had been worried with the silence. Turns out I just have to search harder for data on sales because Amazon are doo-doo poopie-heads with sharing data.

I am apparently doing well in Germany!  Never expected that, so I’m really glad to say Danke! Dankeschoen mein freundes!

Yeah, I know bad German. I’ll have to watch more Rammstein videos.  LOL

What’s more amazing is it’s book 1, so doubly happy on that.  Book 3 is puttering along decent, but I would really REALLY love it if you’d give me a couple reviews and tell everyone what you thought about it.  Here or on Goodreads.com would be great helps!

Tis where you the fan can help us writers most. 🙂

Anyway, thank you all.  Danke!

Reached the Mountaintop

After Realm Makers 2019, (if you want a recap and pictures, come on now, give me a like here)  I got all enthused and had burned off some of that courage to see if I could get placed in a bookstore.  Today, it happened!

I went in to Lighthouse Books in Green Bay, WI and there I sat on the shelves, nestled menacingly in between all the Amish Romances, like a Gargoyle on a Victorian mansion glowering over the innocent besotted lovers

According to the store staff, they’d already sold a couple this week, so I’m a very happy boy!

20190815_165034.jpg

What’s that hiding among them Amish Romances???

I mean I keep hearing Lord Percy Percy in my head demanding to know if I’m a gloater.  Darn right I am!  This is the biggest ego stroke for me as an author so far.  Yes, this is small potatoes and not that big a deal to most, but still.  Blow yer own horn lest it n’er be blown at all.  AmIright?

20190815_164957.jpg

Could it be????

Oh yeah, that’s the stuff right there.

And on a related note, I am opening up my own Discord channel.  You want to know more of what’s going on in my life, a place to chat and ask questions?  Even talk live?  This is the place to go!

Resonant Point Discord Server Join here!

It’s app is available for PC and phone.  Does excellent VOIP too.  I will be hanging out there when gaming, and available to chat about this that and the other thing.

I really hope to see you there.  It will also have more consistent content (basically me talking at/with/around/over and under and through) what’s going on. And there will be some more fun stuff will be coming in this as I grow my social media platform.  I so hate that term, BTW, it sounds so…. disingenuous.  But it is what it is, it be what it be to quote a friend of mine.  I just have to learn how to set things up and find a few more pieces to connect up.  Then we’ll be cookin with gas!

Till then, ciao for niao!

PS: to any of you out there that bet me they could make it into bookstores first back in high school, and you know who you are… pay up.

Good Golly! Book Release Announcement

It’s been a long time in coming.  Two books, one day, and what day?  Good Friday!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Akiniwazisaga will continue, available for purchase on….

April 19th, 2019.

AKINIWAZISAGA 2 - E-BOOK COVER - FINAL

Book 1, “Akiniwazisaga: A Light Rises in a Dark World” will be available wide on Amazon, Rakuten/Kobo and Smashwords.  You will also be able to purchase it through Walmart, Barnes & Noble and other locations.

Book 2: “Akiniwazisaga: The Inheritance Thieves” will be available exclusively through Amazon to start.  That means it will be available through Kindle Unlimited too.

So why the strange release?  I’m experimenting.  Although I’d prefer to go wide, I am going to see how the distribution is through Kindle Unlimited.  We’ll see how it goes, and if it does well, I’ll do the same with ALRDW.  If it doesn’t, vice versa.

Will there be a pre-order?  Nope.  Thanks to Amazon’s new ways to handle algorithms, I won’t do pre-orders.  It’s too bad really, so get your pennies together, and open them piggybanks and be ready to buy it on the opening weekend.  Let your friends and families know it will be available then.  The more people who buy on that day, the higher the rankings will climb and we can get this off the ground as a right out of the gate.

So remember…

April 19th, 2019:  Good Friday!

What a perfect day for a Christian Epic Fantasy!

AKINIWAZISAGA - BOOK 1 - E-BOOK COVER - NEW TITLE

Now On To Formatting! (and other news)

girl reading a newspaper

Photo by Kaboompics .com on Pexels.com

Editing (with the exception of a couple technical whoopsies caught by proof reading ) is done!  I am so relieved.  Both Books 1 and 2 are now set to be formatted, sent to the printer and released.  I am hoping, barring restrictions that this will be complete in April.  A goodish month for me all things considered.

So what comes next?

BOOK 3!  The editing begins!  My goal is mid July, and although I set the deadline, it has some real world outside of myself backup to get it done. That means Beta Readers will be needed again by Early June at the latest, and a cover I hope by the same time.

And once all that is done, I can turn my attention to Book 4… which isn’t written yet, but it’s been building in my head.  I have certain scenes envisioned and now a few new characters, plot twists, questions to answer… not to mention ask!

When will that finish?  I’m not going to predict other than to say 2020.  I know that’s the year I want to start looking at audiobooks, and that will be the goal, but those will probably be pushed back till late 2020, after I finish Book 4 so it can all be done at once.  We’ll see.  This is long range blue skying it right now.

As for other things, Realm Makers 2019 in Saint Louis is fast approaching and I am both full of joyful squee and screams of terror.  Why?  Give away merchandise for attendees and a few choices on merchandising.  I’ve no idea what kind of good memorable give-away I can provide, but I want to do something nice.

What’s that?  You didn’t realize I wanted to do some merch for my books?  Oh yes… yes indeed I do!

What kind of merch?

I hope to do something with teeshirts and my covers and maybe hats with my logo on it.  We’re gonna have to see what I can come up with.  Honestly though I really need help with this stuff.  I’ve been researching companies to do it through, but I can’t afford to play with inventory, online stores, order fulfillment and all that jazz.  Heck, you see how good I am with this blog current!

That said, once I get some shirts designed for me to wear, I do hope to set it up for all of y’all to be able to buy them if you want.  That’s the hope on the clothing.

But nuff said.  There’s also one other dream item I’d love to do, but that would require some real help with someone who has know-how and the ability to help me set up a “Manufacture On Demand” setup.

What is this dream item?  Wellllll….. okay, I’ll tell you, just realize this is in the dreaming with no idea how to pull it off still:  Stuffed Bergamots.  Yes, Actually, I want to do stuffed doggies, same with Hawthorne (you’ll meet him later)  It’d be really fun to do stuffed versions of Brother Finn, Reimar and other characters…. or… something else!  HAH!  But that’s even more blue sky thinking so I’ll keep that in the cooler till it’s ready to start prepping.

So that’s the news right now.  Hope to give a hard date on the release soon.

I’ll Pull the Trigger, You Can Lend a Hand

So it’s official.  I’ve got a trilogy emerging in lieu of a book I never expected to have to write to bridge a gap in the original storyline.  It’s going to force me to redo my plans for how to sell my books in the future.

Book One: A Light Rises in a Dark World is almost a prequel now in many ways, and I like that, but at the same time, I’m looking at the 240k word trilogy as it’s growing and thinking “When do I get to the original storyline idea again?  This is fun, but… geez!  It’s a lot of fun world building I must admit.  For those who may not know, there are several samples of what is now books 2 & 3 scattered about my posts over the last year.  I think they’re worth a read.

So what does this mean for you, O gentle reader?  It means what shall become Book 2 (Title Pending) will be going into editing this June, and hopefully Book 3 will end up doing the same come July… with Book 4 getting worked on to move the trilogy to completion.  Now Book 4 has one well appointed stage set for it.  It also frees me up in another manner.  Instead of worrying how long the climax was going to be, I am free to run wild.  That is a HUGE load off my mind.  YUGE!  I can also potentially extend to a second act of that book I didn’t expect to write about except as maybe a chapter or two.  So yeah, that’s getting extended and enhanced.

That’s me pulling the trigger and going forth with that decision.  2 books approximately 220 pages long each, 80-85k word count.  Not sure how big Book 4 will be yet, but here’s hoping.  And then what is now becoming Books 5 and maybe 6 which are partially written.  Possibly Book 7 is in there too will begin… or rather restart work in 2019.  This also means that if I play my cards right, I will have Book 2 releasing before the end of the year.  That’s the goal.  We’ll see if I can hold to that.  Depends on certain factors, but confidence is high.  If this all can be accomplished as desired, I would release 3 and 4 in four month cycles after that.  I really need some names for these books.  Sigh….

Okay, so how can you help?  Simple.  I need reviews, comments criticisms and other people talking on my book.  There’s only so much I can do.  If you’re enjoying the first book, please please please, let people know.  Particularly in places where people who read a lot go.  I need reviews on:

Amazon (of course)
Smashwords
Kobo
and Goodreads (really need some more there.)

I’ll just say thank you in advance for any you may leave.  Seriously, this is the best way to let an author know you think their work is worth continuing, and that the series is meaning something to you.  So shout out loud to your neighbors and friends that you enjoyed the book and be the first ones in on the craze before it becomes the next big thing.  Then you can say “I discovered that” and be all smug to your friends.  ;cD

So there it is.  I want to get this out to you guys who have been downloading and supporting.  If support is good enough, who knows where this could go.  Again.  I’ve been peeking, and can see ya downloading.  Thank you for that!

P.S…  That means I’m probably going to need beta readers possibly before end of Summer.  heh heh heh.  Yeah, I saw you sit up straight for that one too.  ;c)

Dis r nawt hao it gose.  Wai u upseid down?

A few weeks back I met Peter Younghusband on the Realm Makers Forum on Facebook.  We had a few jolly discussions and he invited me to do a guest post for his blog.  Due to a technical glitch, it posted WAY early, much to his embarrassment.  Sorry Peter, It’s a cute story.  So… as I like to say… SURPRISE GUEST POST!

Everything in His timing, I guess.  So with that happening, here’s a link over to the guest post.
